慾望之翼的片尾獻詞，他將該片獻給三個電影天使─塔可夫斯基、楚浮與小津安二郎，在尋找小津的片頭，溫德斯形同自首的表白：「如果在我們這個世紀仍然有什麼神聖的事物存在...或者在電影中有什麼神聖的寶藏，對我來說那會是指日本導演小津安二郎的作品」
在此溫德斯化身為旅人，尋找小津電影當中的東京的殘跡，並且讓小津電影當中的標記之一的笠智眾帶領我們來到小津的墓前，揭露小津安二郎作品當中最深邃的機密。 (哲學系 江鈺棋)



Wim Wenders went to Japan searching for the spirit of his favorite filmmaker, the Japanese master Yasujiro Ozu who died in 1963. Through his travels Wenders uncovers very interesting oddities. He says, "If in our century something sacred still existed… if there were something like a sacred treasure of the cinema, then for me that would have to be the work of the Japanese director, Yasujiro Ozu".
